A good realtor knows the neighborhood as well as its longtime residents. How can one expect to usher new homeowners into the community unless they too are immersed within its fold? As a UBC Realtor I take it upon myself enjoy the area as often as possible by simply walking around and taking in the sights, enjoying the shops and cafes. One particularly charming neighborhood counted in the UBC Real Estate mix is Wesbrook Village. Wesbrook Village is a popular and convenient community to live in, drawing people from all over the surrounding area to take advantage of its amenities, including the local Save-On Foods. On this particular occasion I popped into the mega-retailer to grab some household necessities and by the dairy case I spotted the 6 foot long row of Eggnog in various sizes and accented by different flavors. I performed a mental countdown in my head regarding how many days there were left until Christmas. 19 days?? The result had me swiftly grabbing for the 2 liter carton.
To be honest I have been so busy over the last few weeks showcasing UBC homes for clients that were looking to join the fine community that the holiday season crept up on me like the Grinch sneaking in the side door to nab unsuspecting presents from under the tree – minus the wicked intentions of course. The tasty Eggnog in front of me, now in my hands, was a wake-up call that I had forgotten to stop and smell the mistletoe. I paid for the purchase and stepped outside into the crisp air that UBC is known to breathe and stood and took notice of the lights and decorations fronting the retail shops and UBC homes surrounding me. Somewhere in the background the quiet hum of carols touched the air. I Popped into the local Blenz café and resisted the frugal urge to order a coffee and pour a half cup of my recent purchase into and instead opted for the Eggnog Latte – wise choice. I didn’t once check my smartphone for messages or even read the local paper crumpled up on the empty table beside me. I simply enjoyed the sights of the UBC community from behind the frosty glass of the café along with the resident students huddled into its dim corners, and enjoyed my Eggnog.
